GROUP THEORY SYMBOL

GTVectorRep

GTVectorRep[character table]
gives the vector representation of a point group with character table.

DetailsDetails

  • The vector representation is the direct sum of irreducible representations of a point group, describing the transformation of a vector. The transformation of a vector is represented by the transformation matrices of a point group. Those matrices form an irreducible or reducible representation of the corresponding point group. The decomposition in the irreducible representations is found.
  • The problem can be formulates in another way. One has to find to which irreducible representations the functions , , belong as basis functions.
